The History

Can-Am was launched in 1942 by Joseph-Armand Bombardier. It started as a branch of a larger company known as Bombardier Recreational Products, focusing on building only motorcycles. Later, the company also began producing other powersports vehicles, including ATVs and UTVs.

They built ATVs with TTI rear suspension, which provided riders with more comfort and enabled them to continue riding for hours. This made their models a favorite among thrill seekers of different skills and experience levels. In 2002, Can-Am built the first manufacturer-approved two passenger-ATV with an advanced suspension system that could handle the extra weight without negatively impacting its performance. Around the same time, the company also released the Can-Am Commander™ UTVs featuring an 85-hp Rotax® 1000 V-Twin engine and a dual-level cargo box for extra storage space. This lineup is still among the most versatile side-by-side models available on the market.
