Heading West?

West Yellowstone

For some of the most extensive trails west of our great state, you’ll want to hit West Yellowstone. With miles and miles of snowmobile trails at your disposal, spanning a wide range of riding levels, you’ll be sure to find something that suits your needs. If you want something easy, you might want the Lionhead Trail or the Black Canyon Trail, or any of the other well-groomed trails that crisscross the Montana/Idaho border in that area. You can even get a guided tour from the Two Tops Snowmobile group. But the area is also filled with ungroomed, marked trails that are longer and require a little more skill to maneuver that will take you past some of the most beautiful sights in all of Yellowstone. No matter which trail you choose, you’ll have no shortage of incredible views in the nation’s first national park.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

A popular destination for snow lovers around the world, Colorado is famous for its many ski resort destinations and pristine landscapes. So they’re certainly not lacking snowmobile trails. Near the northern border, just a few hours outside of Denver, you’ll find Steamboat Springs, a haven for snow lovers with an average 347 inches of what the area has designated as “Champagne Powder.” Take advantage of one of the many trails, from the Continental Divide trail to the South Walton Peak trail, for a chance to witness the Rocky Mountain horizon in a brand new way, either through guided tours or heading out on your own. You can even schedule your tour to include a gourmet meal.

Heading North?

Brainerd Lakes Area, Minnesota

Minnesota isn’t lacking snowmobile friendly areas. While there are lots of great destinations to hit, we’d recommend including the Brainerd Lakes area. With over 1200 miles of interconnected trails, the Brainerd Lakes Area Snowmobile Trails, or BLAST, works with a number of communities to make some of the state’s best snowmobile trails available to you. Simply visit their headquarters or download a map to help you get started. Not only do you get the benefit of great trail options, but this friendly community will make you feel right at home.

Elliot Lake, Ontario

If your passport is up to date, then you won’t want to miss out on the snowmobile trails from our northern neighbor. One such great destination is Elliot Lake, Ontario. Lying in the heart of the Lake Hudson snowbelt, this isolated area provides over 175 miles of snowmobile trails and a combined 1300 miles of trails for other sports. There are even plenty of opportunities for powder riding. In fact, it’s one of Ontario’s most snowmobile-friendly towns that’s out of the way from the bustling city, but with hotels that bump right up against the trails and a quaint, comfortable local community.

Heading East?

Old Forge, New York

For the snowmobiling capital of the east coast, stop in Old Forge, New York.
