A Well-Fitting Life Jacket
A quality and well-fitted personal flotation device is the most important accessory for any PWC rider, regardless of experience level. A good life jacket will keep you safe in case of an accident and help you stay afloat if you fall off your PWC.
If you are joined by any passengers, make sure that they wear a life jacket as well. If you bring your kids along for a ride, double-check that they haven't outgrown their current life vest. An improper fit can be quite uncomfortable and can also reduce the effectiveness of a personal flotation device.
A Tow Rope
It's always a good idea to have a tow rope on hand in case you or someone else needs to be towed back to shore. A tow rope is also useful if you ever want to tow an inner tube or wakeboarder.
There are different kinds of tow ropes available, so make sure you get one that is well-suited for your personal watercraft. You don't want a rope that is too heavy and will drag your PWC down. But you also don’t want a rope that is too light and won't be effective at towing anyone.
The Right Storage Cover
There are different types of storage covers available depending on how you plan to store your personal watercraft. If you're keeping it outdoors, you'll need a heavy-duty cover that can stand up to the elements. If you're storing it indoors, you can get away with a lighter-weight cover that isn’t waterproof.
A Trailer
Unless you live right on the water, chances are you'll need a trailer to transport your personal watercraft.
A trailer needs to be compatible with the size and weight of your PWC. It also needs to be within your tow vehicle's weight limitations. Remember that the weight limit includes the weight of any passengers and other gear, not just the PWC and trailer.
