UTV Safety
UTV riding is a thrilling activity, but it also comes with certain safety risks. Use the following tips to set yourself up for a safe side-by-side adventure.
Keep Your Side-by-Side Well-Maintained
Your UTV is a complex machine with many parts that need to work together seamlessly. To help avoid mechanical issues while you're out on the trail, make sure to properly maintain your UTV. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for various maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, to keep it performing optimally.
Adapt to the Trail Conditions
The terrain and weather conditions can have a big impact on your side-by-side ride. Before heading out, take a look at the forecast and be aware of what to expect. If the trail is particularly muddy, for example, make sure your UTV will be able to maintain the proper traction.
Ride With Others
Riding with others is always a good idea, both for safety and fun. If you encounter a mechanical or medical issue, there will be others nearby ready to help.
If you do end up going solo, be sure to let someone know your planned route and expected return time. That way, if something does happen, someone will know where to start looking for you.
